If you've never been to Arlington, its a cemetery for people who have served in the military. Going and walking around this place and seeing miles and miles and miles of uniform white stones is so moving. I went there today with my aunt and sister and it was amazing. We went there when there was a funeral. Nothing adds to the already sad mood like gun fire and the bugal playing taps. Very very sad!
Thank you. I wish my school took field trips here. I went to DC when I was young on a field trip but I don't think the kids got a chance to fully appreciate and comprehend all the memorials that we saw.
Yeah, if I had went when I was younger I definitively wouldn't have fully appreciated the memorials, I was literally in tears at some of them. We were the last group from our school to take a field trip there because there isn't enough funding for next year. Hopefully the people that haven't been there get to go sometime in their lives, it's definitely worth it. (Sorry if that doesn't make much sense, I'm tired ^^')
Same. I went when I was really young. I remember being at the WWII memorial and I did'nt even know it was a memorial. I remember sliding along the marble benches like it was a playground. When I went the other day, I was in tears like you said. And that did make sense. My school doesn't have field trips anymore. Its such a shame.
Yeah, it seems like schools do less and less field trips these days. It's really kind of sad if you think about it... (Sorry I responded so late, I was watching a movie and got distracted)
(It really is. If anything, I think the field trips should be reserved for highschool or maybe middle school. Then they're more mature and will understand and comprehend more of their experience. (No worries. XP)
I agree. I actually don't really remember learning anything in field trips that we took on elementary school. If we had gone to DC even a year earlier, I don't think I would've had the same reaction to how amazing it was.
I totally agree. Last year, or I guess two years ago now. xP, my grade went to the Holocaust museum. That was sooo amazing. Idk about you, but I have the memory of a gold fish but I was definetely able to remember that. I don't think I would have or even appreciated it as much as I did if I had seen it in elementery school...though theres probably no way they'd take little 4th or 5th graders int here. Dx
